HIGHLIGHTING YOUR PRODUCT

Retail has an important, often underestimated ally: the right light. Although the quality of light is often only perceived subconsciously, it influences well-being and perception - and therefore also shopping behaviour. Light is therefore becoming an increasingly important part of the shopping experience.

A modern, future-proof lighting solution is a key component in presenting products in a more attractive way.

Maximum prominence, guaranteed attention

The main aim of lighting in commercial spaces is to highlight the different products and services on display, to the point of arousing potential customers' undeniable desire to buy them. However, on its own and in the light of the new lighting concepts that have been developed, this objective is very reductive, reducing the chances of success. The focus must always be on people. They are the ones who decide whether or not to buy these products and services. The key is therefore to provide the right lighting conditions so that they feel the necessary predisposition to do so.

The factors that most influence this behaviour are, in addition to illuminance, colour rendering, colour temperature and colour saturation.

CCT - Correlated Colour Temperature (Tcp)

Colour temperature has a direct influence on the feeling of comfort of everyone who moves around a commercial space, and can make a very positive contribution to the willingness to purchase goods and services. Choosing the right colour temperature is therefore the key factor and is intrinsically linked to the type of product you want to highlight.

Products with warmer colours require lighting with a lower colour temperature, tending strongly towards yellow. On the other hand, products with cooler colours require higher colour temperatures, tending more towards blues.

CRI - Colour Rendering Index (Ra)

The quality of the colours of the different products on display has a strong impact on customers' appetite to buy them, with a particular focus on food and clothing products.

Strong, vibrant colours immediately capture our attention and influence our decisions. The quality of the light used is therefore the decisive factor, so the higher the CRI value, the more faithful the colours and the better the results.

GAI - Gamut Area Index (Rg)

GAI presents a complementary option for determining how an observer will perceive colour under the influence of LED lighting. Although CRI is an accurate measure of colour rendering fidelity, these two factors can be used together to better characterise the colour rendering properties of an LED light source, acting at the level of saturation.

This factor has an increased importance in applications of this nature, influencing the attractiveness of the colours displayed. In other words, it makes the colours of products more vibrant, increasing the willingness to purchase goods and services.

Under normal conditions, for adequate colour reproduction the Rg value should be between 85 and 100.
